About Me

DISCOVER HOW A KID FROM THE BRONX ROSE TO BECOME AMERICA’S LEADING DRUG PROSECUTOR

I knew, respected and worked with Bob Silbering in the family court in the 70’s. We were both prosecutors. The justice system was trying to find its legs. A mix of good judges and bad. Good lawyers and bad. Some dedicated. Some not. Bob was one of the dedicated ones. He chronicles the justice system with impeccable recall in this book. Sadly, the more things change, the more they stay the same. The system has not learned from history. Read it and you’ll understand.

The story of

Robert H. Silbering

Robert Silbering was born in the Bronx and lived there for thirty years. He went on to graduate from Brooklyn Law School and become an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan. Within a few years, he became the Chief of the Juvenile Offense Bureau where he prosecuted the infamous Willie Bosket and Laughing Boy murder cases which changed the law in New York and allowed violent juveniles to be prosecuted as adults. Mr. Silbering later was appointed a Trial Bureau Chief and the Chief Assistant District Attorney in the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor.

In 1992 he was appointed as the Special Narcotics Prosecutor for New York City. Special Narcotics is the only office in the country created with the sole purpose of investigating and prosecuting felony narcotics crimes. During Mr. Silbering’s tenure as Special Prosecutor the office led the nation in the number of court authorized narcotics search warrants and wiretap orders. Special Narcotics worked with the Drug Enforcement Administration, the NYPD, and other law enforcement agencies to greatly reduce drug related crime in New York City. Upon his departure from Special Narcotics to join the private sector in 1997, Mr. Silbering was honored for his work by over a dozen local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

In 1997, Mr. Silbering became President of the United States operations of Forensic Investigative Associates, an international investigations and consulting firm. In 2004, Mr. Silbering joined T&M Protection Resources as a Senior Vice President in charge of investigations. Today Mr. Silbering is the Special Advisor to the CEO of the company.

Mr. Silbering has lectured at law enforcement programs,  appeared on dozens of television and radio programs, and has been a consultant on movie and television programs.

He currently lives with his wife in New York.

Bob Silbering had a front row seat directing the prosecution of major international drug dealers who were destroying the quality of life in New York City. His “low key” style and “easy going” personality” allowed him to move seamlessly and effectively among the many levels of law enforcement: federal, state and local. He succeed the legendary Sterling Johnson Jr who was appointed a federal judge in Brooklyn.

Bob’s story is a New York City story where hard work, a sense of humor and determination will position you to succeed. This is a must read for everybody interested in drug law enforcement and the criminal justice system in New York City.
